since the Roman period. |
The Galilee
is in Israel's north and is a beautiful and generally mountainous region.
We refer to
the Lower Galilee and the Upper Galilee,
which combined is an astonishingly diverse and fascinating area with much
to offer tourists. In the Galilee there are still people who
use ancient knowledge to make medicinal potions and fortune-tellers who
read your future from coffee dregs. They are a small part of a disappearing
culture that once prevailed in the villages of the Galilee. This
is the area in which Jesus grew up and which is famous as well, for
the many great rabbis who lived here. There are ruins of Crusader
fortresses and ancient synagogues scattered in and around
the lush green mediterranean forests. |
