The
Golan heights.
The
Golan is part of a large basalt plateau divided between Jordan Syria
and Israel, this beautiful and bountiful area is bordered by the Jordan
River from the west, the Rokad Canyon from the east, the Yarmuk River from
the south and by Mount Hermon from the north. Inactive volcanoes
are scattered throughout the area. The peaks of the Golan
are more then 1200 above sea level and the area's abundant waters supply
one third of Israel's waters supply.
Today
the Golan is a hotly disputed region on the political agendas of Israel,
Syria and the United States. We can discuss these issues on our tour
as we visit this area with it's unique and thought- provoking blend of
nature, history and modern politics.
